What is a tubal ligation?

This procedure is done within a hospital or outpatient clinic. You will be put under anesthesia, so you will not have to worry about feeling the procedure being performed. Your surgeon will begin by making one to two small incisions within your abdomen area generally around your belly button. A narrow tube with a camera at the end better known as a laparoscope will be inserted into your pelvic area. Once that is done now the instruments that will be used to tie the fallopian tubes can be inserted in through the laparoscope..  
 
There is two ways that you can get a tubal ligation, you can either have them burned shut also known as cauterized or they can close them off with a tiny clip.
