Ortho Cept is another type of oral birth control that is available with a prescription. This medication helps prevent ovulation from starting so that pregnancy doesn't occur. It will change your body's cervical mucus also with alteration of the lining of your uterus. 
 
The Ortho Cept birth control pill also contains both progestin and estrogen, and it is well known as a combination drug. There are some common side effects that many people have experienced with these birth control pills such as vomiting, headaches, nausea, and also breast tenderness.
 
Just like most of the birth control pills that are on the market today, each individual pack of Ortho Cept has 21 days of which are active days, these pills contain the hormones, then there are 7 days that follow with inactive pills, they do not have any active ingredients within them. That way your body gets a break from all the hormones, and it will allow you to have your monthly cycle.
 
Ortho Cept comes in a pill form and should be taken on a daily basis. You can take this birth control pill with or without food. If it starts to make you sick to your stomach then be sure the next time that you do take it with food.
 
It is highly recommend that you try to take this pill every day at the same time for it to be most effective. The Ortho Cept will not work if you don't take it just as your doctor states.
