What Is The Implanon?

Searching the market for a new option in birth control?  Look no further, Implanon is one of the newest forms of contraception that many people have started to use.

The Implanon is a long-term birth control that several women have chosen to use so that they can avoid becoming pregnant. The Implanon is similar to other hormonal methods of birth control that needs to be implanted into your body for three years. Many studies have come to show that Implanon is a 99% effective type of birth control.

Implanon birth control is a type of hormonal contraception that requires for a small rod to be implanted just under the surface of your skin that will stay in place for up to three years. These implants are known to be 1.5 inches long and about 0.08 inches wide and are made from a soft medical polymer.

The small rods tend to have approximately 68mg of etonogestrel, which is a progestin hormone that is very similar to natural progesterone. The hormones that are contained in the Implanon are slowly released within your body on a daily basis. After the first year you can gradually begin to decrease your daily dosage to 25mg.

Just like the birth control pills, Implanon helps to prevent getting pregnant by leveling your hormone levels to cause your body to stop ovulating. Your cervical mucus will also help to keep the sperm from reaching the egg.

Consult with your physician to see if it is right for you!
